This expertise is why: In the Spotlight: Atlantic Marine Atlantic Marine Tells the Tidewater Tale As we place this dealership “In the Spotlight,” we speak to Ken Brien about his views on the company’s amazing commitment to excellence, and learn more about being a Tidewater Boats dealer within the glorious Sunshine State. ___ How long have you been a Tidewater Boats Dealer? Ken Brien (K.B.): Atlantic Marine has been a dealer of the Tidewater lines for ten years now. When selling/presenting a Tidewater boat to potential customers, what is the typical reaction of the consumer to the product in regards to the quality of materials, design, storage, power, performance, etc.? K.B.: Consumers see that the Tidewater lines really stand out. They comment on the boats being higher quality than the competition in all facets, from fit and finish to materials used. They also note that Tidewater lines are the bigger boats, overall, when comparing to other brands. This is seen explicitly in the bow area on all the models, is that the Carolina Flare gives the boats a dry ride and a larger bow. Tidewater Boats Most Popular ModelsWhat would you say are the top-selling models of Tidewater Boats at your dealership, and why? K.B.: There are a number of them that are highly popular, especially the 210 CC/LXF, 220 CC/LXF and the Bay Boats (1910, 2110, and 2500). The 210 & 220 are great boats and meet the needs for many people, whether they are just looking to cruise, spend the day at the island, or for those extremely serious fishing and diving guys. The Bay Boats are very popular because they can be used inshore and coastal, and because they have more deck space it makes it much more comfortable when you have multiple people onboard. Can you describe your experience working with Tidewater Boats from a dealer’s perspective? K.B.: I have to say, Tidewater is straightforward to work with on the dealer level. They always respond to all questions quickly and efficiently, which helps us make sure the customer is always taken care of correctly. As a dealer, we make sure the customer is always taken care of and never has to deal with the factory direct. Atlantic Marine Dealership DetailsCould you tell us more about your own dealership? K.B.: It’s quite a sight to see, actually. We have a state of the art facility that includes a 16,000 square foot building spread out on four acres. We offer a large showroom and eight service bays that include air and electrical lines coming down from overhead to help eliminate the dragging of the lines over the sides of the boat. Here, we also provide a full parts and accessories center. Our amazing crew are fully certified master techs in Yamaha and Mercury, and we are a full-line Garmin, Power Pole, Minn Kota and JL Audio authorized dealer. Truly a “one-stop shop” for all your boating needs, we meet with every one of our buyers to make sure they get the right equipment for how they are going to use the boat and customize it for them. We have also just opened a second location in St. Augustine at 2795 US 1 South, St. Augustine, FL 32086, to better serve customers. Atlantic Marine Secrets to SuccessWould that be number one on the list when it comes to what you would like the potential customer to know about your dealership? K.B.: I would most want them to know that we sell High-Quality Boats and provide the Highest Level of Customer Service before and, most important, after the sale! What is the most significant change in the marine market you have witnessed in the past few years?
K.B.: I would have to say, unfortunately, the fact that too many dealers are not standing behind what they sell; or they don’t have the facility and staff to handle the customers’ service needs. This gives the industry a bad name, which culminates in people not enjoying boating as much as they should. Can you tell us a bit about the boat show season that is now underway, and what that entails for the dealer? K.B.: Show season brings a great many potential buyers into our display. Boat shows require a lot of work, however, and a lot of manpower to get everything moved in and moved out. Being a large dealer having multiple brands, we have to bring to a show, on average, thirty boats. So you can imagine the work involved in getting them all there, having them all set in place, getting them all detailed, and then breaking it all down at the end of the show. But it’s most assuredly worth it. Committed to Excellent Customer ServiceAnd as any customer already knows, Atlantic Marine is also more than worth it!
